End of Week ParentMail 01.10.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

As we continue to open and provide an education for your child, I would like to use this opportunity to write to you to give you an update on the current situation within school. This week, with the actions taken with returning to department bubbles and a blended approach to learning within Key Stage 3, we have seen a dramatic reduction in the number of staff and students testing positive for COVID. However, we cannot allow ourselves to become complacent. We expect all Key Stage 3 students to return to face to face lessons on site from Monday 4 October, but we will continue to work in departmental bubbles for a further week at which point we will again review the situation. As a school we appreciate that these times can be extremely challenging for our students and we know routine and structure is key. To ensure that we, as a school, are doing all we can to manage the virus and reduce its impact, we kindly ask that home testing is completed and as a school we will continue to test onsite. Should your child feel unwell for any reason, we strongly advise that they are booked for a PCR and results from the test emailed to office@westlancs.lancs.lancs.sch.uk. If you require home testing kits for your child, please contact the school office and will ensure that these go home. It is important as a school that we try to continue as normal as possible, therefore, Tuesday 5 October is our school photo day, so time to make sure our uniforms are smart and we arrive with a big smile.

I would also like to give all parents advance notice that on Wednesday 3 November we will be holding our annual Open Evening. This evening will provide us with an opportunity for an informal face to face catch up following the disruption that we have all experienced during the COVID pandemic. It will be an opportunity for you to visit the school, see the physical changes that have taken place over recent months, have presentations from key staff about the direction of the school or Key Stage area, but more importantly have the opportunity to chat informally with the key staff that support your child.
